We’re Joining Efforts to Combat the Face Mask Shortage

Cases By Source News

In light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the demands on the healthcare system have reached unprecedented levels — and with those demands have come strains on access to adequate personal protective equipment (PPE). Given the global need, face masks, in particular, have become scarcer as businesses struggle to ramp up production and deliver supplies to hospitals.

At the same time, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have recommended that all Americans wear a face mask in public where it is difficult to abide by social distancing measures. These guidelines are intended to help stop the spread of the novel virus, which we have learned can be airborne, highly contagious and present in asymptomatic people.

To help keep healthcare workers and the general public safe — while reducing the spread of COVID-19 throughout communities — we’ve refocused some of our existing capabilities toward face mask production.

We’ve Pivoted to Answer the Call for Help

In response to the face mask shortage, our team has shifted a large part of our sewing and foam production capacity to producing face masks and other PPE like face shields.

While our face masks are designed to offer protection and inhibit the transmission of COVID-19, they are not meant to be replacements for N95 masks. After all, these medical-grade masks are designed specifically for the clinical environment, and should be preserved for use by healthcare workers on the front lines. Instead, our face masks — available in reusable, machine-washable options — enable businesses to protect the health and safety of their employees without tapping into designated health supplies.

As Part of Our Program, We Want to Give Back

While producing protective gear for businesses and their teams, we also wanted to find ways to further assist our healthcare system in these concerning times. Together, with your contribution, we’ll be donating face masks to healthcare workers, hospitals and nonprofit organizations. While our masks are not intended for clinical use, they can be used as a means of protection by health personnel while they wait for medical-grade supplies to arrive.
