Business Development Associate


The Business Development Associate identifies target markets and develops business cases, researches targets within those markets providing critical intelligence related to products, uses, and contacts enabling sales activities.  A successful team member will open opportunities creating valuable leads and opportunities for the business pipeline.



  • Functional Responsibilities

    • Develop list of prospects to pursue within targeted categories and industries.  

    • Directly responsible for identifying and developing business opportunities that lead to profitable sales

    • Directly responsible for researching target customers, and developing the value proposition for them

    • Directly responsible for identifying customer contacts, products, and product uses and developing proposals for sales tactics

    • Discuss customer needs, identifying opportunities, and setting Discovery call

    • Find opportunities for upselling

    • May attend customer meetings or trade shows, and represent the Company in the same

    • Network via Linkedin and other social platforms

    • Reviews opportunity costs and recommends pricing and sales models

    • Keeps track of leads in CRM

  • General Responsibilities

    • Other duties, as assigned

    • Some travel, as required



  • Sales & Marketing – Collaborate with team members in Sales & Marketing to ensure that all perspectives are considered as new business opportunities are developed and assessed.  Translate knowledge to Sales so that leads can properly be developed and cultivated.

  • Customers - Identifying unmet needs and sources of value for customers.  Foster and maintain professional relationships with all customer interactions.  Foster strong brand identify of CBS creating compelling reasons for customers to want to continue to buy from CBS.

  • COO/President – Raise critical issues as they arise so that they can be managed or attended to as required.

  • Internal Operations – Work as necessary with Supply Chain, Design & Engineering and others in Sales & Marketing, clearly communicate and escalate issues.  Operate within guidelines and policies set by management, with a positive attitude and team spirit.

  • Ability to sit at a desk for long periods.

  • Heavy computer use/typing/data entry

  • Heavy phone use

  • Ambulatory/mobile within office environment

  • Lifting and carrying cases of various sizes both large and small



  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Sales, Marketing or equivalent experience.

  • 1 year of experience in similar activities or business development role.
